Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease. This means the immune system can mistakenly attack healthy cells and tissues in the body. Symptoms and severity can vary from person to person.
Lupus can affect people of different ages and backgrounds. It is diagnosed more often in women and is more common in some racial and ethnic communities.
We encourage visitors to use trusted health organizations for more detailed information about lupus.
